Highlights from National Recycling Day at SoFi Stadium

December 02, 2022

On November 15th, Ball teamed up with SoFi Stadium and the Los Angeles Rams to host students from Environmental Charter Middle School in Inglewood, California to celebrate National Recycling Day at the stadium for the second year in a row.

At the event, students had a chance to learn about recycling and sustainability in their community through an exclusive tour of SoFi Stadium and its recycling efforts, lunchtime recycling trivia, and football ‘combine’ related activities on the field. Los Angeles Rams wide receiver, Allen Robinson, also joined the event to teach students about the importance of recycling and how sustainable lifestyle practices impact the planet and their community. This event builds on Ball’s ongoing efforts to advance recycling in the stadium and the community as an Official Infinitely Recyclable Aluminum Packaging Partner of SoFi Stadium and the Los Angeles Rams.

More than 400 middle school students from the Inglewood area gathered at SoFi Stadium for a day of recycling education and fun. They started the day with an exclusive tour of the stadium and its recycling efforts and played lunchtime recycling trivia and games with the Ball Aluminum Cup®.
Allen Robinson, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver, joined the celebration to speak about how small everyday changes, like recycling, can have a big impact on our communities and the planet.

“Teaming up with Ball Corporation, SoFi Stadium and my Los Angeles Rams family for National Recycling Day has been an incredible experience. I was able to engage with students to discuss the importance of recycling and sustainability in their community and beyond – while having some fun on the field. I’m proud of the work being done to improve recycling practices at SoFi Stadium in partnership with Ball, from educating our community on what makes aluminum infinitely recyclable to making every day recycling easier. Hanging with the kids of the Environmental Charter Middle School left me feeling really inspired to up my own sustainable lifestyle practices and positively impact our planet.” – Allen Robinson
Rampage, the official mascot of the LA Rams, made a special appearance to show the students how recycling can be fun and a simple practice for them to incorporate sustainability into their everyday lives.
Later, the students hit the field for football ‘combine’ activities that incorporated elements of recycling using the Ball Aluminum Cup® and dedicated aluminum recycling receptacles.
